Doxie Training - Blood Tracking
We have just started doing some blood tracking with the Doxies. We’re really beginners, so we attended the training that Oslo Dachshundklubb had a few weeks ago. We got a lot of help getting started with the training, and now it’s time to continue the training on ourselves!
Here’s Frøya on the move! It’s only the fourth time she’s doing this, so she’s still a bit uncertain of what’s going on. It’s quite an easy track, about 80 meters long with one corner, and we used more blood than normal.
She starts out really slow, moving a lot across the track, and getting some help to go in the right direction. But after a while she’s working more and more on her own, and the finds the trophy at the end of the track! Good girl!

Ski Trip With The Doxies
It’s mid April and the snow is finally going away - it’s been a looong winter! Soon we can start doing the dog training outdoors on the lawn. In the mean time I’ve had a look at some video clips from our skiing vacation a few weeks ago. What a beautiful day: blue sky, perfect snow for cross country skiing and two happy doxies! ![]()
It seems like Aurora had a little trouble with snow getting stuck on her paws when running downhill - maybe she’s working on a new dog training command: “down while skiing”!! lol

New Toy!
The doxies got a new toy and Frøya was excited to test it out! It turned out to be very popular, she’s running around in the living room and biting on it nonstop! Unfortunately (for her) the sound is too noisy for me, so the time she gets to play with it is quite limited! Aurora agrees with me, and prefers to find a quite place while Frøya is having a good time!

It is Winter…
It’s winter and we finally got some snow in the Oslo area as well! As a matter of fact, maybe a little too much snow at once for the doxies! Both Aurora and Frøya love to play in the snow, and they come along on walks and ski trips as long as the paws are not too cold! And after the trips they find the warmest place in the house to dry up and relax!

Frøya’s First Snow
We spent a few days at the cabin up in the Norwegian mountains earlier this fall, and we were surprised by snow. For Frøya this was her first experience with snow. After a few careful steps in the snow she quickly got the hang of it, and was running and jumping around in pure joy. Of course, Aurora though it was great fun too and ran along with her.
However, after an hour walk to the store to shop for food (the car had - of course - still summer tires on, so we had to walk) Frøya was wet and cold and the snow was not that fun any longer!
